The light event Luminous Loviisa transforms the town hall into a mobile piece of art

The town hall, a landmark in Loviisa, glows with colours when the light event Luminous Loviisa is started for the first time on New Year’s Eve on the 31^st of December at 5 pm. Loviisa market square and the town hall are part of a mobile piece of art, which consists of lights and colours reflected onto the building, designed by Studio Käpynä’s VJ Luminuance. The lights and colours have gotten their inspiration from Finnish nature and the aesthetics of the buildings.

The spectators can participate in the interactive light installation and create magical projections on the beautiful town hall of Loviisa. Shows are held at the strike of each hour, beginning at 6 pm. However, the public can participate in the interactive part during the entire event. The mystic musical duo Anvidar and Urdan from Pernaja stands for the soundscape. The duo combines electronic music to folk music and ancient instruments, such as keyed fiddle, Finnish zither (kantele) and throat singing. Together with VJ Luminuance they create a magical new year’s ambiance at the market square.

During the event, one can buy pancakes fried on a griddle and those who desire to do so can roast marshmallows. The youth services and the cultural and recreational services of the city arrange light inspired games for children and youths during the first two hours of the event.

The event is produced by the cultural and recreational services of the city of Loviisa. The event is free of charge.
