Loviisa; Fast Forward – Rewind – Play 30.5–1.9.2024

Art in Lov Residence’s guest artists Gosha Elaev, Paulína Pokryvková and Natalia Spychała have worked with students from Lovisavikens school, Generalshagens school, Isnäs School, Sävträsk school, Forsby school, as well as adults and children from Lovisa. Now their works are on display from May 30th to September 1st at Loviisa town museum.

The works are based on visions for the future, thoughts about what the children want to take with them from the past and the present to the museum of the future, as well as the places where students and Lovisa residents enjoy themselves best right now.

The exhibition consists of animated films in stop motion technology, an installation with linoleum prints and mono-prints on textiles. Art in Lov Residence invites artists to residency projects where we strive for a strong local anchoring, Lovisa residents should not only have the opportunity to experience contemporary art as an audience but should also have the chance to participate in the artistic process, recognize themselves in the art and meet the artists behind it. A workshop with Gosha Ealev will be arranged at the Lovisa Museum 8-9.6.2024.

In connection with the exhibition, Paulína Pokryvková’s two-part mural Bay, which is on the bridge pillars under the access bridge to Lovisa, is also presented.

All workshops in the schools were financed by the Swedish Cultural Foundation’s culture in school scholarships. Art in Lov Residence has received support for the residence operations from the city of Lovisa, the Swedish Cultural Foundation, Perpetuum Mobile, Brita Maria Renlund’s foundation and the Aktia Foundation.
