Loviisa is a cosy small town of slightly less than 15 000 inhabitants, located in eastern Uusimaa.
Loviisa is a bilingual city. Of the inhabitants, approximately 55 percent have Finnish as mother tongue and 42 percent have Swedish.
The location of the city on the coast of the Gulf of Finland also attracts many holiday inhabitants. There are about 3 200 holiday homes in Loviisa.
It is easy to travel to Loviisa along main roads as both main road 6 and 7 go through it. It is less than 90 kilometres from Helsinki to Loviisa and from Kotka 46 kilometres. The nearest neighbouring city, Porvoo, is located at less than half an hour drive away.
