The new curriculum for the comprehensive school grades 1–6 was introduced in August 2016. A new curriculum for the comprehensive school grades 7–9 was introduced gradually in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
In the curriculum it is decided about the educational and pedagogic work in the comprehensive school education. Also, the aims and the content that have been outlined in the Finnish National Agency for Education’s core curriculum are specified in the curriculum, as well as other questions related to supplying the teaching.
The municipality bears the responsibility for drafting and developing the curriculum. The Finnish National Agency for Education supplies the core curriculum. The local curriculum is drafted based on the guidelines in the core curriculum.
